7 Restaurants to Know Near DTLA’s 2028 Olympic Venues

When the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games come to downtown Los Angeles, the city’s restaurant scene will be as much of an event as the competition. Here are seven restaurants within walking distance of DTLA’s main venues — places worth knowing whether you are visiting for the Games or not.

Near Crypto.com Arena & LA Convention Center

Bavel — Arts District (1.5 miles)

Middle Eastern-inspired cooking in a soaring warehouse space. The lamb neck shawarma and the pita with hummus are essential. Reservations recommended.

Bottega Louie — Financial District (0.7 miles)

A grand brasserie on Grand Avenue with Italian fare, a patisserie counter, and a scene. Good for groups and pre-event dinners. Walk-ins possible at the bar.

Langer’s Delicatessen — Westlake (1.2 miles)

The pastrami sandwich at Langer’s is regularly cited as the best in the country. Open since 1947, lunch only (closes at 4 PM). The #19 — pastrami, coleslaw, Swiss, Russian dressing on rye — is the order.

Near LA Memorial Coliseum & BMO Stadium

Holbox — Mercado La Paloma (1 mile)

Seafood from Baja California in a casual market setting. The octopus tostada and smoked fish tacos are outstanding. No reservations — first come, first served.

Chichen Itza — Mercado La Paloma (1 mile)

Yucatecan cooking that has drawn crowds to this market stall for years. The cochinita pibil is the signature dish. Generous portions, low prices.

Near Peacock Theater & Galen Center

Grand Central Market — Historic Core (0.5 miles from Peacock)

A food hall that has operated since 1917. Dozens of vendors under one roof — Tacos Tumbras a Tomas for birria, Eggslut for breakfast sandwiches, Sari Sari Store for Filipino food. A reliable pre-show stop.

Sonoratown — Historic Core (0.6 miles from Peacock)

Flour tortillas made to order, filled with carne asada, chicharron, or bean and cheese. Simple, exceptional, and cheap. Usually a line, but it moves fast.
