Whether you are visiting for a weekend, relocating, or looking for a workspace, Downtown LA has a concentrated set of options. Here are the hotels, coworking spaces, and work-friendly cafes worth knowing.

Hotels

  • The Hoxton — The London-born brand’s LA outpost, on South Broadway. The lobby and restaurant are open to non-guests and function as one of the best casual workspaces in DTLA. Rooms are well-designed and mid-range.
  • Hotel Figueroa — Originally built in 1926 as a women’s club, now a boutique hotel with a pool, a rooftop bar, and Spanish Colonial architecture. Walking distance to LA Live and the Convention Center.
  • The Biltmore — The grande dame. The lobby alone is worth a visit for its Moorish-Renaissance ceiling. Full-service hotel with history in every hallway.
  • Hotel Per La — On South Hill Street, in a 1924 building. Rooftop restaurant with skyline views. A good base for exploring the Historic Core on foot.

Coworking Spaces

  • WeWork Downtown LA — Multiple floors in the Gas Company Tower. Day passes available. The standard WeWork package: fast wifi, coffee, and private phone booths.
  • Spaces at 777 S. Alameda — In the Arts District, inside a converted warehouse. More creative-industry-oriented than typical coworking. Day passes available.
  • Premier Workspaces at Wells Fargo Center — Traditional executive suites in the Financial District. More corporate than the Arts District options. Virtual office packages available.

Work-Friendly Cafes

  • Zinc Cafe & Market (Arts District) — Large patio, good wifi, outlets, and an all-day menu. The de facto freelancer headquarters of the Arts District.
  • Blue Bottle Coffee (Arts District) — Spacious, quiet, well-designed. Not explicitly a coworking space, but the vibe accommodates laptop work.
  • Endorffeine (Little Tokyo) — Small and focused. Good for a two-hour deep-work session with excellent coffee.
  • The Hoxton lobby — Open to non-guests. Comfortable seating, outlets, coffee, and food. One of the best informal work spots in DTLA.

Choosing a Base

DTLA has distinct zones, and where you stay shapes your experience:

  • Arts District: Creative, walkable, best restaurants. Farther from Metro and cultural institutions.
  • Historic Core (Broadway): Central, walkable to everything, lively street life. The Last Bookstore and Grand Central Market are here.
  • Bunker Hill: The cultural center — The Broad, Disney Hall, MOCA, Grand Park. Quieter at night.
  • South Park / LA Live: Convention Center, Crypto.com Arena, chain hotels. Best for events and sports.
